ELITE-ATHLETE GRANT APPLICATION

Elite athletes are asked to complete an application every year they would like to be considered for a grant.  The suggested time frame for application submission is during the months of April or May each year.  Our deadline for submission is May 31st.  Please read the eligibility criteria before starting the application.

YOUTH-CLUB GRANT APPLICATION

Youth track and field and running clubs are invited to apply for financial assistance.  Applications for a Youth Club Grant will be accepted throughout the year and grants will be awarded in February.  Grantees will be contacted directly if they should be selected.  Each individual organization is eligible for one grant per calendar year.  Preference will be given to clubs that are affiliated with the JAAA.

At this time the Foundation is unable to accept facility requests such as track resurfacing, funding for new tracks, etc.  As much as we would like to be able to assist with these important inquiries these request are out of scope for our Foundation at this time.

COLLEGE AND UNIVERSITY GRANT APPLICATION

In the United States, NCAA Divisions I and II schools provide more than $3.6 billion in athletics scholarships annually to more than 180,000 student-athletes. Division III schools do not offer athletics scholarships.

Only about two-percent of high school athletes are awarded athletics scholarships to compete in college. Of the student-athletes participating in sports, very few become professional athletes. A college education is the most rewarding benefit of the student-athlete experience.

Full scholarships cover tuition and fees, room, board and course-related books. Most student-athletes who receive athletics scholarships receive an amount covering a portion of these costs. Many student-athletes also benefit from academic scholarships, NCAA financial aid programs such as the NCAA Division I Student-Athlete Opportunity Fund and need-based aid such as Federal Pell Grants.

International athletes coming from countries such as Jamaica do not qualify for academic scholarships, Student-Athlete Opportunity Fund or Pell Grants.  For these reasons, international athletes must be offered full athletic scholarships.  Our goal is to provide additional grants to Jamaican high-school athletes to help support their college or university education.  In the U.S., NCAA rules are complex so we're looking into the legality of providing additional grant assistance.  Application is due no later than May 1st of the students final year of high school.
